HELP SECTION - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)

What is an Affiliate Network?

An affiliate network is a way for advertisers to extend the distribution of their products and services through a virtual sales force made up of any number of any kinds of other websites. In other words, having other websites promote your products and services. By setting up an affiliate program for your products and services, you can greatly extend your marketing reach.

An affiliate network is made up of two primary parties - advertisers (you) and affiliates.

You are required to simply create a campaign within your Traffic Synergy advertiser account. An example of a campaign could be - "You will offer affiliates $5 commission for every sale that they refer to your site."

An affiliate will log into their account in the affiliate section of Traffic Synergy and is able to see your campaign. This affiliate may then decide that they can sell a lot of your product, so they sign up to your campaign. After signing up, they have a banner of yours which they place on their website.

Internet users enter the affiliate's website and come across your banner. The user clicks on your banner and is sent to your site. Whilst at your site, the user may buy something (sale) or fill in a form (lead). If they do this, you then have to pay the affiliate for the customer that they have referred to you. E.g. If the customer bought a clock for $39.95, you have to pay them $5 commission ("You will offer affiliates $5 commission for every sale that they refer to your site.").

What is the difference between Traffic Synergy and other affiliate networks?

Our Affiliates Earn what they Sell
Most affiliate networks take a substantial slice of commission (up to 30%) out of their advertiser's Cost Per Action (CPA), before giving the remainder to the affiliate. This means that if you specify a CPA of $10, $3 will automatically go straight into the hands of the network, while your affiliate will end up receiving only around $7. Think of how many more affiliates your program could attract if your network didn’t charge a commission fee. If you specify a CPA of $10,that is exactly what your affiliates will receive when a transaction is completed via their website.

Affordable Advertising
Some major affiliate networks charge costly signup fees, transaction fees, technical fees, support fees, ad serving charges, maintenance fees and monthly minimum payments. Traffic Synergy offers FREE signup, support, transaction, business and technical support, ad serving, maintenance, and no minimum monthly payments for advertisers.

Service with a Smile
Traffic Synergy is committed to providing the highest levels of real time (24 hour) service and support to international advertisers and affiliates. The friendly staff and customer support team are experienced, qualified, and ready to assist advertisers with any questions, comments and/or concerns.

A Piece of Cake
Advertiser signup and managing your Traffic Synergy account is as simple as 1 2 3. Some affiliate networks and programs can take days, or even weeks, to join and implement into a website. At Traffic Synergy you can complete your signup, campaign creation, deposit of funds and tracking in under 15 minutes with the new Installation Manager. For the advertiser's convenience, Traffic Synergy provides a user-friendly interface and a basic step-by-step process to remove the stress, effort and complication from affiliate network management.

What is CPA?

Traffic Synergy runs programs based on a CPA (Cost Per Acquisition/Action) model. An example of a CPA campaign for you may be: Your company will pay affiliates $1 per sale. In this instance, you only pay when you "acquire" a customer. Other programs may charge you on CPM (Cost Per Mille or cost per thousand banner impressions) or CPC (Cost Per Click) rates, which means you pay per banner impression or per click, but you're not guaranteed business or quality leads.

CPA programs allow you to pay top dollar to get the best quality leads for your business and you only have to pay when you make money.

What is required to become a Traffic Synergy advertiser?

There are a number of requirements a potential Traffic Synergy advertiser must meet regarding their website and company, before they will be approved to join and participate in the network. These requirements are:

  1. You must be the owner/operator of your website. Traffic Synergy does not accept other third parties or affiliate networks.
  2. You must have a website of a high standard.
  3. You must have access to the code on your confirmation of sales page and the ability to edit this code. (A number of third party shopping carts are not compatible with the Traffic Synergy pixel tracking requirements.)
  4. Your product must be, in Traffic Synergy's sole opinion, commercially viable with our affiliate's traffic base.

Are there any fees or costs to join Traffic Synergy?

There are no setup costs, monthly fees, serving fees, or any other standard costs that other networks may charge. All of the money you put into your account goes to paying your affiliates when they generate sales/leads. Traffic Synergy does not take any commission like some of the other networks.

When you sign up to Traffic Synergy, a minimum of $USD500 is required to go live in the network. This is not a fee, but an opening balance for your commission payments. As you make sales via the affiliates, we deduct your account by the amount/rate that you set, and pay it in full to the affiliate.

Any unused funds, including your initial $USD500, are refundable at anytime and you are under no obligation to stay with Traffic Synergy. This is an absolute no risk marketing venture for you, as you decide your level of involvement completely.

It is your responsibility to maintain a positive balance in your account, to ensure there are always enough funds to pay your affiliate commissions. Traffic Synergy will also notify you when your balance requires additional funds.

How does Traffic Synergy track my sales/leads?

The primary tracking supplied by Traffic Synergy is Pixel Tracking, but customized methods including Direct API Tracking are also offered. The pixel tracking method can take as little as 10 minutes for a programmer to implement. Using this method involves placing an image onto your website on the confirmation of sales page. Traffic Synergy's pixel tracking utilizes an invisible image that communicates back to the Traffic Synergy secure tracking servers, information it needs to collate all the navigation details, sales and revenue to the appropriate affiliate.

What does Traffic Synergy do to promote my campaign when it goes live?

When an advertiser's status is actioned to live, there are a number of activities that Traffic Synergy undertakes to ensure the new campaign will receive effective results.

Firstly, the campaign is announced on every affiliate's Traffic Synergy homepage as a news item. Secondly, Traffic Synergy lists the new advertiser's campaign in the upcoming monthly newsletter. Finally, Traffic Synergy directly emails related and successful affiliates about the new campaign to encourage affiliate partnerships.

If an advertiser is unhappy with the results they receive from this launch, Traffic Synergy is happy to then discuss further marketing strategies in the network.

What are affiliate programs?

Affiliate programs are revenue sharing agreements between companies and webmasters. In return for placing product links on websites, in ezines or advertizing, the company pays the webmaster a stated commission when a customer purchases a product or service through the webmaster's link. This is a rapidly growing, cost effective way for businesses to increase sales and for webmasters to make money.

How much money can a webmaster make with affiliate programs

The potential for high earnings is tremendous. Affiliate marketing is a 100+ billion dollar industry, and growing strong. However, many affiliates only earn a few dollars a month. It all comes down to you. High earners know the products they are promoting, know their customer base and have put real effort into promoting the programs. Many affiliates simply put a link on their site and expect the money to come rolling in - that simply isn't going to happen. As with any other business, time and effort is going to produce the most rewards.

Do I need a web site?

Some programs state that you don't need a website to promote their products, but we believe it is far easier and more profitable if you do have a website. With your website you build trust and confidence with your customers, making them far more susceptible to believing in a product that you are offering (and far more susceptible to purchasing the product once they get to the product site), than if they are just reading a cold ad by an unknown entity.

How much traffic do I need to make money with affiliate programs?

It's a given that the more traffic you have, the more chances you will have to make a sale. But a lot depends on what you do. For instance, does the product or service you're promoting fit into your website theme and customer base? Do you write articles and actively promote the products, or do you simply set up links and banners?

Bottom line, if you have 15,000 unique visitors a month (500 per day) and make a good effort to promote the products you should be able to begin earning a decent income from your affiliate programs.

What is a two-tier program?

Two-tier affiliate programs pay you a commission for any sales you make directly, and also pay you a commission (usually a substantially smaller percentage) on the sales of any sub-affiliates that have signed up for the program from your links.

Isn't a two-tier program the same as multi-level marketing?

A two-tier program is simply that. There are no multi (many) levels involved. There is no "downline spill-over". You make your commission for products/services sold, and receive a small percentage for the recruitment of other "sales people", and that is as far as it goes.

Can I make a living just from associate programs?

Most webmasters use affiliate programs as a supplement income, apart from their main service or product, but with some creativity and effort, you can certainly make a living with them.

If I sign up with an affiliate program, can I have links on my site from other programs?

Yes. There are only a handful of companies, such as Barnes & Noble that have an exclusivity clause. Just make sure all the programs are relevant to your site, and that you don't have a hodge-podge of links and banner ads that will ultimately distract from your site's theme and appearance.

Do most affiliate programs require that their products be related to my site's theme?

There are some companies, Disney for example, that require a certain type of site, but the majority approve you instantly without any type of site check. More important to you is not whether they approve you, but rather is the program right for your website? There are many affiliate programs out there relating to almost every type of business, so be choosy!

Do I have to pay taxes on income from affiliate programs?

Yes. Whatever tax laws in your country, state or locality that apply to the income you earn, apply to an Internet business as well.
