How can the ASTracker Adsense Tracking Script help you make more money?
Google adsense is a great program for monetizing your website for small and large publishers alike. However, even though google adsense allows you to break down your websites and website pages into different channels, there is still extra information that it would be good to know, but which google adsense doesn't share.
That's where ASTracker becomes invaluable.
AStracker shows you the following reports:
- Domains - you simply add a bit of tracking code to each page that you want to track google adsense on, and you can use the same code across multiple websites. Once you have purchased AStracker you can install it on each domain individually, or you can install it once, and use it across multiple domains. Then you get to see a breakdown of which domain is sending you which traffic. Google adsense lets you see domains, but doesn't give you the granular reports that AStracker gives you in the reports below.
- Days - See your google adsense clicks on a specific day
- Hours - See your google adsense clicks on a specific hour - that means that if google adsense goes down for a few hours, and you can't log in every hour (like many publishers do), then you'll still get an indication of how many visitors are clicking on the ads. NB: Keep in mind that google adsense doesn't disclose revenue per click (unless you break your google adsense channels into such granular levels, that you only receive one click per channel, and therefore can work it out, but on large sites, this becomes impossible. Thus AStracker also can't show you how much you are earning for different sites, pages, hours etc, but it can show you all the other detail - you need to take the information you gather from AStracker together with your stats from google adsense to find out the overall picture)
- Ads - *** One of the best features. This shows you which ads are being clicked on *** What happens is that when someone clicks on an ad on your page, the ASTracker adsense tracking script pulls of the information about the ad from the URL of the advertiser on the ad. This isn't 100% accurate, but gives you an indication of which ads your visitors are clicking on. It doesn't mean that you definately will get paid for a click, as there are a number of things that might happen before google register the click (eg: A visitor clicks, and then immediately shuts the page before google registers the click, but the AStracker adsense tracking script shows the advertiser.) However, it gives you a fantastic idea of which advertisers are receiving traffic from your site. In addition, with the text links, the visitor needs to click on a text link, and then click on one or more of the adverts that show up, and AStracker adsense tracking script will only show the text link clicked on, not any subsequent adverts that are clicked.
- Formats - This shows you which ad formats are working and which aren't (eg: You select one domain, and then find out which ad on the page is giving you the highest CTR. Remember, that google adsense can also show you this if you select the right channels, but neither of them will show you the amount earned per ad format. So you might be getting a much lower click through rate on one ad format, but unknown to you, the amount you are earning from that ad format might be much higher).
- Pages - Shows you which pages your clicks are coming from.
- Diretory - Shows you which folders your clicks are coming from - crucial information if you have a large number of directory's in your website, as it will show you which areas of your site are generating the largest number of clicks
- IP's - Shows the IP address for each visitor to your website - this is important so that you can keep check that your clicks aren't all coming from the same IP (which means there is something going wrong)
- Clicks - Similar to the Ads feature above, but goes into more detail about the click. In addition to pulling the information from the ad when someone clicks on it, it shows the page the ad was clicked on, the IP address of the visitor, and the time the Ad was clicked.
- Referral - shows the page that referred each visitor to your site. Although this information is very interesting, for some reason it shows internal pages as well, so sometimes (perhaps if there is a direct type in of your URL), then the refs feature will show one of your pages on your website referring another page from your website.
- Referral Domains - similar to the report above, but shows the domains that have referred your visitors to your site rather than the specific pages. Allows you to identify whether any sites are linking to you, and also whether you are getting clicks from your paid advertising (if you place unique URL's on your paid advertising)
- Keywords - This is an interesting report, as it shows you which keywords on the search engines are bringing you the most number of visitors and also the most number of clicks. Unfortunately, it is difficult to determine which of the visitors and also keywords are related to free traffic and which are from paid advertising (if you are doing both). However, it is important to find out which keywords are bringing you the type of visitors that click on your adverts, as you can either optimise your pages to get more of those visitors or pay more for your paid adverts to increase your traffic on those words (however, keep in mind that a large number of clicks does not equate to a large revenue, as you don't get to see which clicks on which pages and sites make the most cost per click for you unless you have broken down the pages to a granular level)
- Channels - Similar to the google adsense program, you can use specific tracking code from ASTracker when setting up your AStracker adsense tracking code on your websites to break down the clicks into specific channels. However, if you set up multiple channels on google adsense, then you get to see the cost per click which you can't see using ASTracker Adsense Tracking Script.
Is ASTRacker Adsense Tracking Script useful?
Although you don't get to see the cost per click that you are earning from the google adsense program with the AStracker script, it is still extremely useful to find out all the other information you require to successfully optimise your pages to maximise your revenue.
Once you learn how to use ASTracker together with the google adsense reports, you'll find the quality of the information you get is increased significantly, which allows you to make better optimising decisions.
(In addition, when you purchase ASTracker, you get a number of free gifts including an eBook on which formats and colours result in the highest clickthrough rate, which keywords are paying the most (some clicks pay dollars per click rather than cents), and some other fantastic items which Jonathan Leger decides will help you with your google adsense optimisation)
